Births, Deaths & Marriages
The General Registry Vital Events Department maintains a registry of birth , death and marriage records in the Cayman Islands recording significant life events of Caymanians since 1885.
Since 2020, the Vital Events Register commenced recording Civil Partnerships which have been formalized or recognized in the Cayman Islands.
The Registry is also a repository for Public Records (wills, debentures, powers of attorney, deed polls & bills of sale).
Government agencies utilize the records held by Registry for research and strategic planning. Individuals interested in tracing their family history or other historical information may also find the data contained in the Registry useful.
The Registry also facilitate affirmation of “no impediment” to intended marriage in overseas territories.
Persons desiring to get married or enter into a civil partnership in the Cayman Islands must utilize the services of the relevant local appointed officers.
